44net is an Internet Protocol network for amateur radio experimentation. It connects stations and services through a combination of radio links, wired networks and tunnels.
A public 44net address identifies a network endpoint; the path to it can include several kinds of transport. Recording that path makes routing and measurement results easier to interpret.
