A clear station diagram is often more useful than an unstructured equipment list. ===== Station inventory ===== Document the radio and firmware, antenna, feed-line route, power source, computer interfaces and software. Record any changes so a new fault can be compared with the previous working configuration. ===== Receive performance ===== Interference can come from inside the station, nearby equipment or the wider environment. Compare observations systematically: frequency, time, antenna selection and whether individual devices are on or off. Preserve the original settings so experiments can be reversed. ===== Working safely ===== Follow the equipment manufacturer's installation guidance and applicable electrical, RF exposure and structural requirements. Antenna work, mains wiring and lightning protection may need qualified assistance. A wiki article is useful for explaining a design, but the actual installation must suit its site. ===== Useful documentation ===== * A block diagram and cable labels. * Manufacturer manuals and configuration exports. * A record of measurements and test conditions. * A maintenance checklist appropriate to the installation.
