44net and amateur radio networks
Amateur radio networking brings radio links and Internet protocols together. It can support experiments with packet transport, routing, services and network measurements.
44net
44net is associated with amateur radio IP networking. Address assignments and connectivity should be documented using the current guidance from the organisation responsible for the allocation.
A publicly routed address identifies a network endpoint. It does not automatically mean every link to that endpoint is an RF link: connectivity may include radio, wired networks, tunnels or a combination of these.
Tunnels and measurements
A tunnel transports one network connection inside another. WireGuard is one way to construct an encrypted IP tunnel. When reporting measurements through a tunnel, include the tunnel in the description so readers can interpret latency, reachability and routing accurately.
RIPE Atlas provides distributed network measurements. A software probe can run on a server, and its measurements describe the network path available to that probe.
Wikiham's network context
This wiki is operated by XZGroup. The separately hosted RIPE Atlas probe 1017882 uses public 44net addresses over WireGuard. Its network path is associated with AS197736.
