Amateur radio glossary
| Term | Meaning |

| Antenna | A structure used to transmit or receive electromagnetic energy. |
| Band plan | Guidance coordinating activities and modes within a radio band. |
| Callsign | An identifier assigned to a licensed station or operator. |
| CQ | A general call inviting a reply from another station. |
| CW | Continuous wave; in amateur operation, commonly used for Morse code. |
| Feed line | A transmission line connecting radio equipment and an antenna. |
| HF | High frequency: 3–30 MHz. |
| QSO | A radio contact between stations. |
| Repeater | A station that receives a signal and retransmits it to extend useful coverage. |
| RF | Radio frequency. |
| SWR | Standing wave ratio, a measure related to mismatch on a transmission line. |
| UTC | Coordinated Universal Time, commonly used in radio logs. |
| VHF | Very high frequency: 30–300 MHz. |
| UHF | Ultra high frequency: 300–3000 MHz. |
| Wavelength | The distance corresponding to one cycle of a wave. |
